Candle Flame

Imagine that you are sitting in a room and there is a candle burning nearby. At first, you might see the candle-flame as a solid, permanent object with a clear shape and identity. However, if you were to examine the flame more closely, you would realize that it is not a static or permanent object.

In reality, the flame is a constantly changing process that is dependent on various factors for its existence, such as oxygen and fuel. The flame is made up of constantly moving and changing gases that are burning, and it produces heat and light. If you were to look at the flame under a microscope, you would see that it is made up of rapidly changing patterns of light and heat.

This recognition of the emptiness of the candle-flame can help us to see the world around us in a different way. We can begin to recognize the interdependence and impermanence of all phenomena, including ourselves. By understanding that all things are constantly changing and that there is no inherent, fixed self or identity, we can cultivate a greater sense of compassion, wisdom and freedom in our lives.
