Running River

Imagine that you are standing by a river, watching the water flow by. At first glance, you might see the river as a fluid, permanent entity with a clear form and identity. However, if you were to examine the river more closely, you would realize that it is not a static, permanent object.
The river is constantly changing and moving, and its very existence depends on a range of conditions. For instance, the water in the river is made up of countless molecules, and the river is affected by various factors such as rainfall, temperature, and the shape of the land.
If you were to break down the river into its individual components, you would find that there is no inherent self-nature or essence of the river. It is simply a collection of elements that are in constant flux and dependent on various conditions for their existence.
This recognition of emptiness can help us to transform our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. By recognizing that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence and dependent on countless factors, we can embrace the impermanence and interdependence of all things. With this understanding, we can cultivate greater wisdom, compassion, and freedom in our lives.
