Slipping Ice Cube

Imagine that you are holding a piece of ice in your hand. The ice cube appears solid and stable, but as it begins to melt, you start to realize that its solidity is only temporary. If you hold the ice cube for a while, you will see that it is not a static, permanent object but rather one that is constantly changing and is dependent on various conditions for its existence.
As the ice starts to melt, it becomes clear that it has no inherent self-nature or essence. The melting of the ice can serve as an example of emptiness – the idea that all phenomena, including ourselves, are devoid of inherent existence and are dependent on various conditions.
This realization can help us understand that our sense of self is not fixed and permanent, but rather an ever-changing collection of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations that arise and pass away. By recognizing the impermanence and interdependence of all things, we can gain a deeper sense of freedom and wisdom, leading to a greater sense of compassion and peace in our lives.
